What: Searching the National Library of Medicine PubMed Database and Consumer Health Web Sites
PubMed houses more than 16 million bibliographic citations and abstracts in the fields of biomedicine. It provides access to MEDLINE® and to articles in selected life sciences journals not included in MEDLINE.
Attendees will be able to:
- Identify and search using the MeSH Database in PubMed
- Explain the benefits of using the MeSH Database in PubMed rather than keywords
- Locate and search using the Single Citation Matcher in PubMed
- Identify National Library of Medicine consumer health resources
- Locate and search each of these consumer health resources
The National Library of Medicine has a number of databases designed for the general public. These databases range from health information to environmental conditions that impact health. Databases to be covered are MedlinePlus, NIHSeniorHealth, ClinicalTrials.gov, Genetics Home Reference, Tox Town, and Household Products Database.
Attendees will be able to:
- Identify National Library of Medicine consumer health resources.
- Locate and search each of these resources.

Who Should Attend? All interested staff in the Capital Area Library district can attend with permission from their manager/supervisor. This workshop is best for those who help patrons find information for reference and research.
Notes on Registration:
- Cost: This workshop is FREE for all district staff.
- This workshop will provide 1.5 hours of CE credits.
