POSITION: Teen Program Coordinator

RESPONSIBILITIES: Developing and implementing programs of interest to area teens, working with and recruiting for the library’s Teen Advisory Board, providing outreach to area middle schools and organizations working with teens, maintaining the library’s teen collection and online presence.

REQUIREMENTS: Relate to and work well with teens, possess excellent communication, organizational, inter-personal and MS Office skills. This person must be creative and self-motivated; able to initiate and implement programs, and manage multiple projects. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, with experience in working with teens desirable. A valid PA driver’s license and personal automobile are required. Criminal and child abuse clearance are also required for this position.

HOURS: 20 hours per week, afternoons/evenings, one Saturday per month.

SALARY: $9.00-9.15 per hour DOQ.

POSITION: Part Time Reference Librarian

RESPONSIBILITIES: General and interlibrary reference service and assistance with all reference department activities, including government documents, genealogy and user assistance with internet access and library catalog.

The series is timed around the launch of the 2008-2009 Commonwealth Speakers program. The new line-up offers over 135 presentations on the arts, history and heritage, literature, and current affairs led by a variety of spokespeople for the humanities. It includes hands-on presentations, performances combined with discussion, and family programs, along with more traditional lecture-type presentations.

By allowing selected libraries to run three programs, PHC aims to help libraries gain experience and skills in conducting adult programs and in marketing themselves as community centers of lifelong learning.

POSITION: Head of Outreach Services

RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead staff of 15 in providing library services: to the public, via Bookmobiles at multiple locations, including retirement communities and daycare centers; to shut-ins via Books-By-Mail; to other libraries, via a daily delivery service throughout the County. Manage, supervise, and evaluate the following departmental resources: personnel, vehicles, services, and budget. Develop and maintain relationships with County departments, local libraries, community agencies, and municipalities.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree, 3-5 years of supervisory experience preferred, resource management, time management, computer, and problem-solving skills. Valid PA driver’s license.
