Fee: $27 includes meals and refreshments.

Workshop Title: Serving Older Adults: From Large Print Books to Gaming!
Workshop Description: This full-day workshop will provide participants with an overview of the changing demographics of Pennsylvania’s aging population. With the baby boomers, older adults and the elderly becoming a larger segment of each library’s customers unique strategies are needed to provide excellent library services for these 3 generations of “seniors.” No longer is buying a collection of Large Print materials enough. Service to seniors now means developing: senior spaces,” “web 2.0,” “gaming,” and “civic engagement.”
Workshop Objectives:
- gain a better understanding of the changing demographics of their community and how to locates and assess current and future trends of the older adult populations
- become knowledgeable in how to adopt the concept of senior spaces in their library
- learn how to develop library collections and services that meet the needs of the 3 generations of older adults
- understand the potential to use technology (computer training, web 2.0, social networking, gaming) with the 3 generations of older adults
