Cranberry Public Library Director Position (Butler County)

The Board of Trustees of the Cranberry Public Library is seeking a dynamic, community-minded Library Director for this active library located in Cranberry Township (Butler County).

The Director will manage personnel, facility oversight and day-to-day library operations; identify funding sources and administer the annual budget and grants; implement and evaluate programs, services and resources using both traditional and innovative means to respond to the informational needs of Cranberry Township library patrons.

Desired qualifications and background for the position:
*Masters Degree in Library or Information Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution; with a minimum of 3-5 years of administrative/supervisory experience as a public library director; or comminsurate experiences that demonstrate proven ability.
*Continuing education in the areas of current library services and technology.
*Active participation in professional library associations and community organizations.
*Current knowledge of library trends and innovations.

Compensation and benefits commensurate with experience. The Cranberry Public Library is an equal opportunity employer. The desired start date is between December 1 and January 1, 2009. WebFeat Training Session

Training Date: September 18, 2008

A WebFeat training session has been scheduled for those who will have access to the administration console. Anyone who is interested in learning about WebFeat can attend to get an introduction to the basics of WebFeat as a federated search. This training is especially intended for those who will serve as WebFeat Administrators. It is recommended at least one representative from CCLS, one from DCLS and at least one from each of the other independent libraries.

The 90 minutes session will be delivered via Live Meeting and conference telephone to include an overview of federated searching using WebFeat. Participants will see searches and examples of other libraries WebFeat systems. At the conclusion, participants will be familiar with the WebFeat Administration Console and know how to:

*add and delete databases
*edit database descriptions and names
*create and edit subject catagories
*customize the user interface
*make the system available to their patrons

The trainer, Karen Farley, MLS, has been with WebFeat since September, 2005. While with WebFeat, she has worked in client services, troubleshooting and resolving client issues and assisting libraries with their WebFeat implementation. Karen is now the primary trainer for WebFeat products.

Blain Library Concert

Special Event Date: September 19, 2008

Blain Library presents Covert Action at the Blain Picnic Grounds. The family band will play on Friday, September 19th at 7:00 p.m. The band plays a wide variety of music from today’s top hits, to country and hits from the 50′s decade and on. Tickets are available at the Blain Library and The Bank of Landisburg. Price of tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for those 12 and under.
