The PaLA Academy of Leadership Studies (PALS) is a new, cooperative initiative between PaLA and the Office of Commonwealth Libraries to offer leadership development for new librarians. The program will be led by David Bendekovic of Polaris Library Systems. This is the last day for the program.

The Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) electronic applications for 2010 projects are open. You can find them on the PDE website atwww.pde.state.pa.us. There is a link to eGrants in the left margin. The guidelines for the applications are on the LSTA web page atview.asp?a=5&Q=40316 . These guidelines provide instructions for getting into the applications as well as the priorities, questions and evaluation criteria for each one of the applications.

The eGrant system will default to the 2009-2010 Program Year, but you must highlight the 2010-2011 Program Year in black.

The Parkland Community Library, a service-oriented library serving 56,000 people
and embarking on a building project, is seeking a knowledgeable, self-motivated
reference librarian who is comfortable with technology to provide excellent
reference services, and to be part of the exciting building project.

and non-fiction collections, management of three part-time reference staff, and

The Hershey booksale takes place the first Saturday in August through the following Wednesday. This year the start date for the booksale is August 1st. The library is located at 701 Cocoa Avenue in Hershey, PA.

The New Cumberland Library booksales are held the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of every month from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the Foundation House. It is located at 9th and Sharon Streets in New Cumberland, PA 17070.

The Shippensburg Library has a book store with used and donated books. It is located in the library parking lot across from the main/side entrance. The store is open on the following days and times:

The Friends of Bosler Memorial Library in Carlisle officially opened their used book store “The Bookery” in April 1998. The 750 square-foot addition to the rear of the Bosler Library was paid for by proceeds from the Friends’ Annual Auctions.
