The Board of Directors of the Laughlin Memorial Library, Ambridge, Pennsylvania is seeking a Library Director who is enthusiastic, eager to meet an exciting new challenge, and has a vision for moving and expanding an established institution into the 21st century.

The Borough of Ambridge is located approximately eighteen miles from downtown Pittsburgh, and twenty minutes from the Pittsburgh International Airport. Serving over 12,000 area residents, the library has a budget of $225,000 and has a staff of three full time employees and four part time employees.

Duties of the Director include but are not limited to the following:

*Report to the Board of Directors at its monthly meeting with a prepared agenda
*Handle library finances in a competent and timely manner
*Direct the daily operations of the library including staff management, collection development, and the implementation of Board policies
*Develop a public relations program that encourages local support groups
*Long range planning and development

Qualifications
*A MLS or MLIS degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association
*Pennsylvania certification
*A working knowledge of the many facets of library management and its daily operations
*A working knowledge of the computer and applicable programs necessary to run the library
*A ability to communicate effectively with the staff, the Board of Directors, the community and pertinent organizations
*The ability to handle the preparation of required reports on all levels dealing with the operation of the library
*An awareness of the latest trends and innovations as they pertain to the library

Librarian Position: Johnstown

Position Available: Information Literacy and eLearning Librarian

The Pennsylvania Highlands Community College in Johnstown, PA seeks a creative and energetic librarian to join us in advancing our online information literacy program and online teaching environment. The design of online instruction, both web-based tutorials and content modules for delivery through learning management systems, will be a strong focus as the college seeks to expand its online instruction and learning programs.

Responsibilities: Analyze needs assessment and evaluation of data to identify and meet the requirements of the targeted audience; develop measurable learning objectives and goals for learning activities; determine methods and modalities for delivery, with web-based being the primary modality. Lead subject matter faculty through instructional design process to identify and create technical content for learning activities. In addition to providing reference services to students and assisting in collection development.

Required qualifications:

· ALA-accredited MLS degree

· Strong commitment to information literacy instruction

· Demonstrated ability to create web-based instructional tools and other Web 2.0 resources

· Effective interpersonal, oral, written, and online communication skills

· Ability to work independently and a part of a team and to work with faculty and students

Desired qualifications:

· Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design principles and practices, web-based development tools and project management

· Teaching experience

· Experience with creating library services embedded within online courses

· Knowledge of MS-SQL, HTML, XML, TCP/IP, or willingness to learn

Librarian: North Philadelphia

Esperanza College of Eastern University, a two year Christian college serving the Latino community of north Philadelphia, is seeking a Solo Librarian to run all areas (Circulation, Cataloging and Reference) of their 10,000 volume lubrary. System used: OPALS. This is an independent library, associated with, but not managed by, Eastern University’s library. Master’s degree in Library Science or related degree is required; also preferably bilingual (Spanish and English).

The librarian is responsible for the overall operation of the library, managing book acquisition, the book lending process, online resources, liaison with the Warner Library of Eastern University, inter-library loans and academic support to the faculty and dean, provides direct customer service to students, faculty, staff and visitors, oversees administration of the library cataloging system (OPALS) and reports to the Dean of Esperanza College. The library should function as an extension of the classroom and a resource for the entire college community.

Postion responsibilities include:

*Develop a mission statement for the library.
*Complete the sorting and cataloging of acquired books.
*Develop a 5-year library plan and time line.
*Assess the adequacy of the library book and journal collection, including e-books, and propose a multi-year book and journal acquisition plan, after consulting with the academic staff and faculty.
*Administer the library cataloging and information system (OPALS)
*Outreach to the faculty to provide assistance to students in support of their academic program, especially with regard to learning best research practices.
*Supervise student workers and any others working in the library, including administration of the circulation desk.
*Provide for a quiet environment in the library for study, research and reading.
*Establish and maintain an active ongoing working relationship with the Warner Library at Eastern University’s main campus in St. Davids.
*Maintain current knowledge and skills level in library science by participating in conferences and/or taking graduate courses in the field.
*Operational experience in library management, especially in planning and establishing new libraries.
*Familiarity with the educational needs and cultural dynamics of multicultural students, especially Latinos
*Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Excel spreadsheets, word processing, Access, PowerPoint, Internet and email) is required.
*Must be willing to work at the Esperanza College campus at Nueva Esperanza in North Philadelphia

The Village Library of Morgantown is seeking an energetic, self-starting Library Director. The Village Library is a busy, growing library and a member of the Berks County Public Library System. The library is the central community gathering place, providing materials and programs for all ages.

The successful candidate will have a desire to work in a small public library, to create and inplement literacy programs. Children’s Librarian: Hershey

Hershey Library in Derry Township is currently in need of a part-time library assistant/children’s services librarian. Duties include:

*Provides support to the development and implementation of children’s services, programming, activities, and purchasing
*Assists in developing and marketing library programs, reading programs, and young adult activities, with special attention given to the library’s summer reading program
*Takes an active role in cooperative programming and networking with community agencies, schools, and home-schoolers
*Assists patrons in the children’s department, providing reference and reader’s advisory services
*Uses an intergrated library automated system (Polaris) for checking materials in and out, registering customers for new cards, placing holds and collecting money for fines and other services, shelves library materials.

Qualifications:
*Graduation from high school or GED
*One year of experience, preferably in children and young adult library services, education, theater, or recreation, with demonstrated ability to plan and deliver appropriate programs
*Some knowledge of the principles and practices of children and young adult programs, children’s literature, and community program needs
*Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
*Ability to work courteously and effectively with the public (of all ages and abilities)

Wage is $10.04/hour. Hours are approximately 20-24 hours per week. These hours will include weekday daytime hours, 4 evening hours assigned to circulation desk, and some weekend days.

The Haverford Township Free Library (HTFL) seeks a dynamic and energetic Director who understands that the new paradigm for a 21st century library demands an institution that promotes community learning, connections, and communication. As one of the largest libraries in Delaware County, PA, the HTFL serves as one of the six Area Resource Centers for the Delaware County Library System. Haverford Township is located in Delaware County, PA, off Interstate 476 and close to downtown Philadephia.

The Director must work collaboratively with the Board of Trustees and the Township Commissioners. The Director also communicates regularly with the leaders of civic organizations, the school board, and other groups to promote and support the library and its role in the community. The Director manages a $1.2 million budget and oversees and directs the library staff to serve the customers and community by maintaining current services and programs and developing new innovative services and programs. The Director also works with the Friends of HTFL, who raise money to support the library.

Candidates must have a MLS from an ALA accredited university, be eligible for certification as a professional librarian in Pennsylvania, and at least 4 years of progressively increasing experience supervising staff. Successful candidates will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, experience applying for and receiving grants, and experience starting and growing a capital campaign.
