University Librarian: Harrisburg University

Harrisburg University of Science & Technology invites applications for an entrepreneurial, multi-faceted, and service-oriented information professional for the position of University Librarian. This position, reporting directly to the Office of the Provost, offers exceptional opportunities in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of a wide-range and responsive and innovative library service.

Responsibilities:
1. Information Literacy. Provide leadership in developing a comprehensive information literacy program across the curriculum.
2. Collection-Building, Content Management, and Database Licensing. Develop, coordinate, and organize all electronic and print collections
3. Technology Across the Curriculum. Contribute to the University’s technology and learning mission in conjunction with faculty, OIS, and Learning Technologies.
4. Partnerships, Outreach, and Collaboration. Provide leadership by developing internal and external relationships in grant-writing, program development, or consortia buying agreements.
5. Policy and Planning. Develop policies, priorities, procedures, and practices for the management and dissemination of digital or print content; prepare budgets; supervise support staff or student workers; provide input into relevant University policies such as copyright policy; assess effectiveness of services; and partner with Office of Student Services and Office of Information Services in Learning Commons service delivery model.

Required Qualifications:
• Masters degree in librarianship or information science from an ALA-accredited institution
• Minimum of three to four years academic, corporate, or special library experience
• Thorough understanding of information literacy
• Ability to develop and to deliver instructional sessions
• Experience developing and publishing web-based resources for reference, instruction, or other service delivery
• Experience with collection development, content management, and/or database licensing
• Strong technical orientation
• Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work with colleagues, students, faculty and staff in a rapidly changing multicultural environment
• Demonstrated initiative and flexibility in adapting to change
• Experience with or potential for internal or external partnering
• Experience with integrated library systems cataloging or circulation modules.

Desired Qualifications:
• Demonstrated understanding of science and technology faculty and students’ information needs and the application
of information technologies in serving these populations
• Experience with course management software such as Blackboard or Moodle
• Experience with media, multimedia, web development, or learning technologies
• Experience with electronic portfolios
• Experience with curriculum development, assessment, or program evaluation
• Background, knowledge or interest in learning commons service models.

Automation Librarian: DCLS: Dauphin County

Automation Librarian – Dauphin County Library System

The Automation Librarian for Dauphin County Library System has primary responsibility for the data and software components of the DCLS ILS system as well as PC access management and public filtering software.

Under the supervision of the Public Services Director, the Automation Librarian will lead the way in planning for and implementing changes to the ILS system, including vendor and software selection. This position will work closely with the IT Department to ensure that the requisite equipment infrastructure and backups are in place and maintained. This position will also work closely with the Public Services Trainer to develop staff training. The Automation Librarian will also be responsible for generating statistical reports for library staff and board as requested.

The minimum qualifications for this position include: An MLS Degree as recognized by the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, three years professional experience including both public service and technology areas. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate their expertise in library software and hardware. A valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License is required.

The minimum starting salary for this position is $36,000 with a very competitive benefit program. The home base for this position will be the East Shore Area Library located in Colonial Park in Harrisburg, PA.

Public Service Assistants: Dauphin County

Dauphin County Library system is seeking two part time Public Services Assistants for its newly renovated McCormick Riverfront Library. Qualified applicants for these positions should possess a High School diploma or a GED, keyboard and computer abilities, customer service experience and an ability to lift 30 pounds unassisted.

There are two positions available, with the first position scheduled for 24 hours while the second will be scheduled for 18 hours per week. This will be a Monday – Friday schedule with hours mainly between 9:30am and 6 pm. The rate of pay for these positions is $8.70.
