<p>POSTION INFORMATION<br />
Title of Vacant Position:   Library Assistant  </p>
<p>Hourly Wage or Range:  $10.92</p>
<p>Approximate Hours per week:20-25</p>
<p>Job Responsibility:<br />
Circulation (20-25 hours/week, including weekday hours and one weekday evening per week)<br />
Uses a computerized library automated system for checking materials out and in, registering patrons, managing patron holds, and searching the library’s online catalog.<br />
Gives directional assistance to patrons and informs patrons about library and district library circulation policies and procedures.<br />
Collects monies for fines, and other services.<br />
Unloads book drops; picks up misplaced or mis-shelved library items for proper shelving; returns materials to shelves, keeps shelves in order.<br />
Registers customers for cards.  Answers and directs telephone calls.  Other duties as assigned.</p>
<p>Required Education and Skill: Graduation from high school or GED, 2 years of college, university or vocational education preferred. Library experience or working  in public service desirable.<br />
Ability to interact pleasantly, constructively and cooperatively with library patrons and staff.  Ability to serve the public in busy situations in a calm and courteous manner. Computer competency in  Microsoft Office .</p>

<p>Responsibilities:<br />
1.      Information Literacy. Provide leadership in developing a comprehensive information literacy program across the curriculum.<br />
2.      Collection-Building, Content Management, and Database Licensing. Develop, coordinate, and organize all electronic and print   collections<br />
3.      Technology Across the Curriculum. Contribute to the University’s technology and learning mission in conjunction with faculty, OIS, and Learning Technologies.<br />
4.       Partnerships, Outreach, and Collaboration. Provide leadership by developing internal and external relationships in grant-writing, program development, or consortia buying agreements.<br />
5.      Policy and Planning. Develop policies, priorities, procedures, and practices for the management and dissemination of digital or print content; prepare budgets; supervise support staff or student workers; provide input into relevant University policies such as copyright policy; assess effectiveness of services; and partner with Office of Student Services and Office of Information Services in Learning Commons service delivery model. </p>
<p>Required Qualifications:<br />
•        Masters degree in librarianship or information science from an ALA-accredited institution<br />
•        Minimum of three to four years academic, corporate, or special library experience<br />
•        Thorough understanding of information literacy<br />
•        Ability to develop and to deliver instructional sessions<br />
•        Experience developing and publishing web-based resources for reference, instruction, or other service delivery<br />
•        Experience with collection development, content management, and/or database licensing<br />
•        Strong technical orientation<br />
•        Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills<br />
•        Ability to work with colleagues, students, faculty and staff in a rapidly changing multicultural environment<br />
•        Demonstrated initiative and flexibility in adapting to change<br />
•        Experience with or potential for internal or external partnering<br />
•        Experience with integrated library systems cataloging or circulation modules. </p>
<p>Desired Qualifications:<br />
•        Demonstrated understanding of science and technology faculty and students’ information needs and the application<br />
          of information technologies in serving these populations<br />
•        Experience with course management software such as Blackboard or Moodle<br />
