The IST view of information is broad, multidisciplinary, and practical. We offer three BS degrees, three Masters degrees, and the PhD. Full-time PhD students are supported either through faculty research grants from the National Science Foundation, the Institute for Library and Museum Services, and other funding agencies, or while performing other research or teaching related activities in the College. The ALA Accredited MS(LIS) degree is highly ranked, both overall and for specializations in information systems and digital librarianship. Faculty and student interests span a broad spectrum of library and information science areas. All academic programs emphasize applied research, with a tradition of both quantitative and qualitative research that encourages interdisciplinary activity. We consider experience in industry a plus.

The College is host to the Internet Public Library (IPL) www.ipl.org. It serves as a teaching and research forum that unites the broad faculty interests across the College.

Drexel is a privately endowed technology university founded in 1891. Lancaster Public Library consists of the Duke Street (main) Central Resource Library and branches in Leola and Mountville. The Punxsutawney Memorial Library is seeking an innovative individual interested in joining our team as library director. Working in conjunction with other library staff, the director should have a thorough knowledge of public library practices and procedures; an ability to communicate effectively with the staff, the Board of Directors, the community and pertinent organizations; the ability to handle the preparation of required reports on all levels dealing with the operation of the library; and an awareness of the latest trends and innovations as they pertain to the library.

Library Director: Luzerne County

The Board of Directors of the Hoyt Library is seeking a dynamic Library Director who will build on the Library’s past successes while meeting the exciting challenge of opening a beautiful new wing.

The Hoyt Library is located in Kingston, and serves seven communities in Northeastern Pennsylvania, having a combined population of over 33,000. The Hoyt is a member of the Luzerne County Library System. The library has an annual budget of approximately $600,000 and has a staff of 4 full-time employees and 10 part-time employees.

The candidate should have a Master of Library Science degree, preferably from an ALA accredited school. Ideally, the candidate should have five years of library experience with at least two years as a supervisor. Other qualifications include:

The Coudersport Library Board of Trustees is seeking a thoughtful, creative and dynamic leader to become our Library Director. The ideal candidate for the Library Director position should be a community-minded librarian who is committed to providing the highest quality of service to the library patrons as a hands-on administrator of operations.

The Library Director plans, organizes, reviews and manages the services of the Coudersport (Pa.) Public Library, under the direction of the six-member Board of Trustees. The Director evaluates the effectiveness of library services; selects materials and books; supervises library procedures; plans programming to meet the needs of the public; supervises and trains library personnel; administers the annual budget and assists with fund-raising efforts.

The successful candidate should have a B.A. or B.S. degree with an emphasis in library science. A Master’s Degree in Library Science is preferred. Public or other library administrative experience and knowledge of library procedures is also desirable. Applicants should have good oral and written communication skills and be able to establish effective working relationships with staff, trustees, the library system, the district center and the public. Applicant should have strong computer literacy skills and knowledge of internet resources.

The Pennsylvania Highlands Community College in Johnstown, PA seeks a creative and energetic librarian to join us in advancing our online information literacy program and online teaching environment. Under the direction of the Head of Reference and Instructional Services, the Reference Librarian/Subject Specialist for Art will provide general reference and specialized research consultations in person and virtually; develop print and web based instructional materials and consel faculty in developing effective information literacy assignments and activities; provide library instruction to art, art history, and art education students and faculty as well as to undergraduates in the general education curriculum; support the use of visual resources such as ARTstor; and engage with the faculty in Temple’s Tyler School of Art and with the wider campus community through outreach and promotional activities. The librarian will develop and manage electronic and print collections in art, art history, and related subject areas, under the coordination of the Chief Collection Development Officer. The librarian will also participate in library-wide projects and activities and is expected to be active professionally. Some evening and weekend hours are required.
