Business Librarian Position: Chester County

Chester County Libray in Exton is seeking a Business Librarian. This position in the Reference Department is responsible for providing business and general reference services to the public and member libraries in a fast-paced, high-volume suburban Philadelphia public library. Developing and marketing specialized services to business, presenting programs in libraries and the community, and maintaining current content of the library’s business website are some of the responsibilities of this position.

This full time exempt position requires M.L.S., A.L.A. accredited, with 2+ years broad-based general and business reference experience, thorough knowledge of online and print, general and business reference resources, and strong online search skills. Familiarity with automated systems and Windows environment, strong commitment to public and customer service, excellent oral and written presentation and communication skills, ability to work well under pressure is necessary. A current PA driver’s license is required. Salary range available beginning at $40,414.92 annually based on education and experience. The 35 hour work week is weekdays 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with occasional evenings and weekends.

Library Director Position: Lewisburg

The Board of Trustees of the Pittston Memorial Library is seeking a library director to continue the growth and expansion of our local public library.

Located in Pittston City, the library serves 8,104 city residents, as well as the municipalities comprising the Pittston Area School District, having a combined population of well over 28,000 people. The library has an annual budget of approximately $185,000.00 and has a staff of 3 full-time employees.

The candidate preferably should have a Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited school. Ideally, the candidate should have 5 years of library experience with at least 2 years as a supervisor. A candidate with library certification and 5 years of library and supervisory experience would also be considered. Candidate should be an outgoing, motivated, organized self-starter with excellent public relations and communication skills.

Library Administrator: Potter/Tioga County

The Potter-Tioga Library System seeks a collaborative, dynamic leader to serve as administrator for our two-county library system due to an upcoming June 2010 retirement. The Potter-Tioga Library System, with its office located in Coudersport, is the only two-county Library System in Pennsylvania and provides library services to a population of approximately 60,000 served by 11 member libraries.

The administrator reports to the System’s Board of Directors and is responsible for managing the Library System in accordance with state code and system policies. This opportunity requires an individual with a demonstrated passion for public library service, superior fiscal, planning and organizational skills and understanding of current and emerging library trends and technology.

The successful candidate should have a master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA accredited institution and 3-5 years public library experience with Pa. The Tredyffrin Public Library in Strafford, PA is seeking an enthusiastic, friendly, motivated person to work as a part of our team bringing materials, programs, and services to young people and the adults who care about them.

The main components of this job will be to provide and/or coordinate: programming, collection development, reader’s advisory, and outreach to local schools/pre-schools. Some supervision of other staff will be required as well

Qualifications:
Candidates should have an ALA accredited MLS with coursework in children’s services or have a bachelor’s degree in a children’s field (e.g. Elementary Education) and significant experience working with children.

It is extremely important that the candidate should have an existing knowledge of children’s literature and an abiding interest in and liking for young people. Prior experience working with children is very desirable.

Hours: 37.5 hours a week. Hours include 1 night a week and 1 weekend a month.

The Oakmont Carnegie Library is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Library Director. We are looking for a director who is friendly, energetic, and who possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills to carry the library towards its vision, working with the board, staff, library and community organizations to make the library a center of lifelong learning.
