POWER Library is a web portal provided by the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, Pennsylvania Department of Education, and is hosted by the HSLC.  This resource is an online portal to a variety of helpful information, and showcases the resources that Pennsylvania libraries have to offer.

  • Customers can enter their address, city, or zip code to find their closest library
  • The Pennsylvania Statewide Catalog (formerly AccessPA) is available to search for items located in libraries across the state, and is used for interlibrary loan services for the district libraries.  This collective catalog of the holdings of Pennsylvania libraries remains the largest, statewide catalog in North Ameria.
  • POWER LIBRARY CHAT (formerly “Ask Here PA”), is a 24/7 live chat service is available for assistance with any topic or information need.
  • eResources, including thousands of magazine and journal articles, newspapers, photographs, charts, and reference materials
  • PA photos and documents are available to showcase the history of the state of Pennsylvania; digitizing these types of resources helps to preserve our state’s history
  • POWER Kids is the place for students to access a variety of information and resources

Much of the website is accessible for free, however access to the e-resources available is obtained by using a library card issued by a Pennsylvania library, or by obtaining an eCard.
